Life as a Homeschooler

I love being homeschooled, mainly because it's the only thing I know... regardless I still enjoy it! As of this year I started Classical Conversations, and surprisingly, I'm really enjoying it. I've made some awesome friends, and learned SO much it's really cool to see what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it! So if you've never been homeschooled or are considering it, I would 10/10 recommend. I love not being tied to a school everyday, even though I currently go to school once a week, I still don't have the constant commitment. I can travel on the weekends if I so desire, and finish school early to hangout with friends. I can get a week ahead for a vacation, and easily catch up if need be. So now that you're totally convinced that homeschooling is the best and that you should definitely take your child out of their current school, here's the downsides to classical education. It can take FOREVER to finish some assignments, which doesn't sound that bad, but in one week I ended up writing 50 paragraphs worth of notes.... for ONE subject (disclaimer: I'm an overachiever/perfectionist, I definitely didn't have to do all that work). Not saying that every class will be like that, but keep that in mind. Also Latin really isn't that fun of a language to take. But don't get me wrong the good outweighs the bad in almost every aspect. I love the freedom that I have with my schedule, I can easily move anything around to fit exactly what I need todo. Not to mention homeschoolers have some really awesome after school activities/ extra circulars. And we can play sports on school teams which is really cool. I played volleyball on a junior high team for one year and club volleyball for two. I also compete in competitive speech and debate exclusively for homeschoolers. I've competed with the National Christian Forensics and Communication Association (aka NCFCA) for 2 years and I absolutely LOVE it! I've made so many awesome friends and can't wait to compete again in 2020! Currently I'm affiliated with Stoa (don't ask what that means, I have no idea), because where my NCFCA region is it's mainly in WA state and I live in Cali and my mom didn't really want to pay for both and make 5-14 hour drives for competitions and I respect her decision. I'll get to speech and debate in a later post because I have a lot to say concerning the matter.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this blog post, have a great day and I'll write again soon!
